The town of New Canaan is teaming up with nine other towns and cities to take on the FAA's new flight plan.
The FAA's new plan would reroute commercial air traffic over southwestern Connecticut. The towns say they'll do anything they can to try and stop it, including taking legal action if they have to.
Representatives from towns and cities including Weston, Wilton, Redding and Pound Ridge, New York are speaking out at an executive session at New Canaan Town Hall Tuesday.
There are a few strategies being considered. First is a motion for reconsideration with the FAA. Another option is asking the FAA for a stay, which would put the new flight plan on hold. Lastly, if the towns can show that the new plan would irreparably harm the environment, they can file a complaint with the National Environmental Policy Act.
