The owner of a video store in Fairfield has decided to close his doors after the holiday season.

Media Wave on Post Road has been a staple in the community for the last 17 years.

The owner of the store, Paul Jordanopoulos, says he will be selling more than 70,000 movies. He says he is closing because of some life changes and the reality that the movie rental business is becoming a thing of the past.

Jordanopoulos recently got married and lives in West Hartford. He says it has been tough to compete with the Internet and streaming services.

Customers are already lining up to make their last purchases, though rentals will be available through January. Prices range from $2 to about $35.
