It's Friday. That means it's time for main Street, Connecticut. A chance to showcase many of the attractions our local towns and cities have to offer. And this morning we're in Stamford News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudal starting us off at Patisserie Salzburg, Mark. Good morning, Becky. Yeah, the first stop is a good one for me. It involves food as we know. Uh I love some of that. Par Shayan is the owner and he's so nice to get up so early to join us this morning. Thank you so much. Tell us about some of the goodies you've got here in the case. Well, we are Patti Salberg. So we've been in business for 35 years almost. And our location, original location in Rye. And uh we have three locations, one in Rye, one in Stanford, and one in Buchanan. And we are basically uh pastry and baked goods and our ingredients are of the highest quality you can imagine. Now, I heard that I guess the secret is butter. Is that right? Butter is the secret. You kind of b but the, the, the the basic ingredients are very, very important in preparation when you put the good and wholesome ingredients, high quality ingredients. You get high quality food. It's very simple. But of course, our trade is very demanding. You know, we have to start at four o'clock in the morning, get everything ready and everything is baked on premises and all fresh daily. And we do have a lot of take out orders, people order cakes and we have done many, many celebrity cakes, which I don't like to mention. I want to give myself away. That's right. That's right. We would, you know, make all kinds of wedding cake for birthday parties, bar mitzvah, whatever. Uh, and, uh, we also proud ourselves in having high quality salads and savories and make your own salad station and, uh, make all kinds of catering sandwiches, uh, hot and cold food of any kind. Now, what do you have here for us? So we're gonna try here. We have a pushed egg with the salmon. Oh, you know, and, uh, uh, this here is, uh, one of our signatures. It's called the Salzburg Special. And, uh, it is, uh, basically poor ages with avocado and salmon and, you know, it's very simple and if you have some utensils. Yeah. Do you knife and fork, please? Knife and fork. We're gonna get to try this. I think you got some knife cappuccino here as well. Huh? Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. Let's see. Let me try a little of this, uh, tip cappuccino fork. Nice little froth to it. No, fresh. Yeah, that's just me. Amazing. Cappuccino. Fantastic. And now where's the, we only use the highest quality coffee cafe is the Italian highest quality coffee. You can imagine. That was an expensive one, but we use it. I'm just gonna run over here for a second. Uh grab a uh grab a fa fork and a knife here so I can try to try this, this deliciousness uh which looks amazing by the way. And this was whipped up fresh just moments ago, hot off the grill and, oh my goodness. Hm. Of course, you have to like salmon and I do amazing. So good. We have a, we have a food menu breakfast. Yeah, we are here to preview tomorrow's Health Wellness and Lifestyle Expo here in Stanford and join me this morning is Tammy Kettler and also Dominic Sari from the Shoprite stores around our area. Thank you both for being with us this morning. Thank you, Tammy. Let me start with you. What do we need to know about this event tomorrow? Well, first of all, we are here at Beautiful Harbor Point in downtown, well, not downtown but here in Stamford along the Stamford waterfront and this is the 13th annual Health Wellness and Lifestyle Expo sponsored by Stanford Health and this event has grown tremendously. Uh We are now the largest Health and Wellness Expo in Connecticut featuring over 130 exhibitors and it's really just a very special event. It, it provides free parking, free admission for everyone. It's very family and pet friendly. We have 10 different zones for people to experience. We have a kid zone with lots of great activities featured here in the sand pit area. We have two different class zones with free classes going on all day and just so much activity, food and beverages just it's really a special event and news 12 by the way, is also a sponsor of the event. I got a joke for you. Beck. Are you ready? I think she's ready. You know, I just flew in from Norwalk and boy, are my arms tired. Hey, Shecky. Thank you. Oh, that works. Yeah, that, that, I think that worked. All right, good. Uh Let's bring in our guests, Scott and Emilio from, uh, the New York Comedy Club here in Stanford with us. Thank you so much for being with us so early this morning. Hey, quiet, that crowd over there. Will you, uh, Scott, tell us about the place and you've only been here about a year, I guess, right? Yeah, we've been here just over a year and it's been fantastic. We, uh have relocations in Manhattan and we moved out here, uh, because we saw the market in Stanford and it's wonderful and we've been very well received and we're happy to be here. Yeah. Emilio, tell us about the response from the community here. No, it's been great. Yeah, I mean, you know, I'm originally from Connecticut and Scott lives in Stanford. So it was always a goal of ours to have some kind of outpost here locally and there, it has been really, really great. It's much, you know, it's very much a community, you know, New York is obviously New York, but it can be a very transient place. Whereas, you know, here in Connecticut, we're getting a lot of repeats. We get a lot of people who come here often when we celebrate our one year anniversary. Actually, we had a, a guy who was like our super fan, he'd been here like 18 times. So, uh so it's, it's good to have that kind of like loyalty. So, Scott, you get some, some pretty good names here. Tell, tell us about some of the comics you have coming in. Sure. I mean, we get the best of the best. I mean, we get huge headliners like Andrew Schultz, Chris Stefano, uh Jessica Pearson, uh Josh Johnson, I mean, really all the, the household names. And then we do a lot of showcase shows which is like, you know, five or six comedians uh from the city. One of the great things about being in Stanford is we're so close to the city that we can get these comics who are performing at other clubs to shoot up here. It's only 45 minutes up train. Um So you get that city feel of a showcase. Um But here in Stanford, which is great. So you don't have to drive down to the city to experience New York City comedy. And look, I mean, anyone who's done stand up before, this is not an easy thing to do, it's not easy at all. It's, it's easy to give a best man speech, but to do five minutes of material on stage is really, really difficult. And uh yeah, and, and again, the comics, they love coming here as well. It's, it's kind of like a little, almost like a little getaway from them from New York City, you know, coming out to Connecticut and, and taking the train and, and being able to also work on their craft in front of a completely different audience, you know, which it makes it really effective for them to come here and perform and where you are here, right in Trustor Boulevard uh is a great location. It's a fantastic location and we got great restaurants right here. You know, people in Stanford are looking for stuff to do. I know for myself, you know, when my wife and I want to go on a date night, that was one of the reasons we opened the club is so that there's things to do in Stanford. That's not just going out to dinner now you can go out to dinner at Tera or Capitol grill um and just come right over here afterwards. It's makes for a great night out. Amelia. You, you, you got a quick joke for us maybe. No, no joke. II I, I'm on this side of the business because I'm not the funny one. So uh no joke. Unfortunately, Scott's usually pretty good at jokes. So you got something for us. Nothing in appropriate, nothing appropriate. I was gonna say, yeah, this is a family. We keep the jokes to the professionals like yourself. Not me. That's for sure.
