State police are looking into how a murder investigation in Maine led to a high-speed chase and deadly shooting on I-95 in Norwalk Sunday.
Police say 19-year-old Eric Niles broke into his ex-girlfriend?s home and confronted her and a man in her bedroom. Investigators say Niles killed the man, 20-year-old Blake Michaud, and kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Kristin Cates, in a stolen truck.
Niles led authorities on a chase from Maine to Connecticut. Investigators say Niles finally pulled over on I-95, got out of his car and shot himself. According to police, Niles spent the night in serious condition at Norwalk Hospital, but later died of his injuries.
