Gov. Dannel Malloy says he will sign an executive order to ban the sale of guns to people on the government's terror watch list.
Malloy said Thursday he still needs federal approval but intends to sign the executive order.
This comes after President Obama called for Congress to prohibit people on the no fly list from purchasing firearms after the San Bernardino massacre.
Under Malloy's executive order, state police would review whether a potential gun buyer was on the federal no-fly list or on a watch list for people with suspected ties to terrorism.
The order would also take away existing gun permits from people whose names were found on such a list.
