(10/01/07) GREENWICH ? The man accused of using his granddaughter to steal a woman?s purse in New Jersey appeared in a Connecticut courtroom Monday.
Seaside Heights, N.J., police say 52-year-old Daniel Twomey was arrested at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in a McDonald's parking lot in the Riverside section of Greenwich. He is being held in Greenwich, and is expected to be extradited back to New Jersey. Twoney was ordered held on $600,000 bond. He has been previously convicted of 15 felonies, including theft and burglaries.
Seaside Heights police say the theft occurred in mid-September at Lucky Leo's on the boardwalk. Security video shows an adult with shoulder-length brown hair with a girl and red-haired boy. The adult used a foot to push the girl under a swinging security door. The child then stole a worker's purse.
Twomey faces potential charges of endangering the welfare of a child and employing a minor in a criminal act.
