A Stamford man is in the hospital after what Norwalk police say was a brutal overnight beating that ended with him being hit by a car. Officers say 38-year-old Dave Burns, the alleged victim, was first hit in the head with a baseball bat while he was crossing the intersection of Stuart and Grandview avenues. The suspect then allegedly hit Burns with his pick up truck. Police say the suspect, 22-year-old Enrique Higareda, was caught and identified by witnesses after he took off in the car he allegedly used in the attack. Higareda has been charged with felony assault. Officials say the attack appears to be random and that they are still investigating what may have sparked the attack. Police say Higareda was released on $2,500 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for next week.
