Police say a 20-year-old man drowned Monday after diving into the Norwalk River to rescue a boy.
Officers say the accident happened in the Silvermine Section of the city near Broad Street. According to authorities, two men were fishing in the river while one of their sons played in the shallow area of water nearby. Officers say the boy slipped and fell in the water and both men went in after him.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the 10-year-old boy treading above water, but his father?s friend was face down. Rescue crews were unable to save the man.
