A man from Orange has been sentenced for multiple crimes targeting the same family over the course of a year.
Christopher Barretta's five children and wife watched on as Barretta was handcuffed and sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
The 49-year-old had no criminal history prior to April 2020 where police say he committed a slew of criminal activities.
Barretta is charged with burglary, tampering with a witness, larceny, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
Police say he shot at a home on Old Tavern Road in June 2021. No one was hurt but bullets hit the house and cars in the driveway.
The assistant state's attorney says Barretta also stole large value items from the victim's business.
Defense attorney Robert Saraco argued that Barretta is an addict.
"He had no control over any of his behaviors as he has fallen victim to disease, your honor," said attorney Robert Saraco Jr.
Barretta will have to pay restitution of up to $42,000.
