A man met with state and local officials Sunday after his mother died during Mother's Day weekend from COVID-19.

Mark Schachter says his 89-year-old mother Harriet passed away at a nursing home in Hamden after initially rebounding, then taking a turn for the worse.

He says his mother was a beloved local resident who will be deeply missed. He's still in the process of making funeral arrangements for his mother.
