A Bridgeport man is recovering in the hospital after getting a very special Valentine's Day gift - a new heart.
Yale-New Haven Hospital says John Pesavento, 60, was notified yesterday morning that a donor heart was available and he went into surgery last night.
Pesavento had been on the transplant list for the last year and was put on a left ventricle assist device in June after being diagnosed with end stage heart failure.
Pesavento's doctor released a statement saying that while every day is a great day to save a life with a heart transplant, perhaps there is no better day than Valentine's Day.
