Man struck by train in Greenwich while family watched

A man was struck and killed by a Metro-North train while on the tracks Sunday in Greenwich, and his family witnessed the whole thing.
The MTA says 55-year-old David Buffa was trying to place a penny on the southbound track at the Riverside Station to show his family members, who stood watching, how it flattens.
According to the MTA, Buffa?s family tried to help him back onto the platform but he was struck by the train, which was traveling at 75 mph. Members of the Greenwich EMS arrived on the scene soon after.
The MTA says Buffa?s two stepdaughters, daughter, daughter?s boyfriend and his wife were present when the accident occurred. Buffa was from Ripley, New York and was visiting with his family from Maryland.
MTA police continue to investigate the accident.
