The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk is hosting a special Valentine’s Day event to help people move on from past relationships with the help of some sea creatures.

The Norwalk aquarium says its “Love Bites” fundraiser is cathartic and filled with poetic justice.

Participants first symbolically name a veggie, cockroach or fish after an ex or anyone else they feel is deserving of the bite. The next step is to make a donation, before finally feeding the “bite” to one of the aquarium’s resident animals.

Donation and bite options include:

  • A $5 vegetable for Lefty the sea turtle.

  • A $10 cockroach served to Peewee the monitor lizard.

  • A $15 fish tossed to Sono the seal.

Maritime says each person who donates will receive a video featuring their selected animal enjoying their treat.

Anyone interested in healing old wounds by spreading “Love Bites” can sign up online.
