Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is taking action to deal with the school superintendent’s announced plan to close six schools.
Those schools would be closed in phases over several years.
The plan is controversial, with many parents speaking out against it.
The mayor’s office sent a statement to News 12 Monday that said: "Mayor Joe Ganim plans to commission a comprehensive independent study to provide demographics to the Superintendent's proposed plan to close six schools over three years," says the mayor’s spokesperson.
