The Mediterranean diet has been named the best diet of the year for the fifth year in a row, according to US News and World Report.
Coming in a close second, in a tie is The DASH diet, which stands for dietary approaches to stop hypertension.
DASH emphasizes reducing salt intake. The flexitarian diet was also a runner up, which encourages being a vegetarian most of the time, but is flexible enough to allow a burger occasionally.
