More trains are running on the Metro-North New Haven line today now that the new fall train schedule has taken effect. Metro-North officials say they have added more trains because of increased ridership, especially on weekends. Now, trains will depart for New York City more frequently on the weekends. On weekdays, the 6:51 a.m. train from Danbury will run express from South Norwalk to Grand Central Station. Metro-North has also added two new reverse peak trains that will run along the New Haven line on weekday mornings. MTA officials say new trains will be added system-wide each week. The expansion project is expected to be complete by April of next year. Officials say the service increase will cost $1.4 million, which will come from the railroad's annual operating budget. MTA says there will be no direct fare increase as a result of the new schedule.
