CappuGino's Coffee & Shakes in Milford was offering officers a free coffee today in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
The coffee shop located in the lobby of the Milford Vascular Institute opened a couple years ago.
It's co-owned by David Esposito, one of the cardiovascular surgeons there, and his two sisters, one of whom is a retired New Haven police captain.
Esposito says officers who stop Monday receive a free beverage of a choice.
Esposito says he's hoping the community will show appreciation for the men and women in blue not just today but every day.
Several organizations came together in 2015 as a way to thank officers across the U.S.
Some ways citizens can show appreciation for law enforcement officials are to wear blue-colored clothing, send a card of support to a police station, share a positive law enforcement experience on social media, or to simply thank an officer if you see one.
