Milford officials gathered in Eisenhower Park Monday to launch the city's mosquito control program.
The comprehensive program looks to kill off mosquitoes before they can fly. Crews are now putting a microbe-based larva killer in standing water to kill off growing mosquitoes. In a couple of weeks, the same will be done in catch basins.
Mayor Jim Richitelli says the city will spend about $60,000 on the program. The mayor says the money is spent to keep residents protected and keep them feeling safe from mosquito-related problems like the West Nile virus.
