The Milford Police Department is reminding drivers not to block intersections as they shop during the holiday season.
Police officers have set up "don't block the box" patrols near retail stores in the area of Boston Post Road, Cedarhurst Lane and East Town Road, making sure that drivers don't clog busy intersections.
Police say with increased traffic around shopping centers, they are focusing on this traffic violation because vehicles that block intersections could decrease response times for emergency vehicles that may travel the same roads.
Officers say anyone who is caught blocking intersections may be given a warning, and drivers who violate the law in the coming days could be subject to a $120 fine.
Police will be focusing on the "don't block the box" effort through Jan. 1.
