Chilled, plump and ready to eat oysters awaited Saturday attendees of Milford?s 32nd annual Oyster Festival.Hundreds hungry for one of summer?s culinary pearls found at least 9 varieties of oyster ready for shucking. John Bil, Canada?s shucking champion, can slurp 18 oysters a minute. Bil was on hand to partake of a food he says is loaded with minerals, low in cholesterol, packed with potassium and so easy to love.He isn?t the only one in love with oysters. It?s estimated that those who showed up at the Oyster Festival would gulp 20,000 oysters trucked and flown in from places like Maryland and Maine. Everyone has their own way of eating the slimy crustaceans ? some prefer dousing them with vinegar before slurping them down, while others drown them in hot sauce. The Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Fest is only three weeks away for those who missed the feast.
