Students of Milford?s Platt Technical High School lined up to try on their new school uniforms Wednesday.
Principal Gene LaPorta said opting for uniforms was a good choice for Platt Tech because they will enable students to better focus on education, not fashion. The uniform consists of a polo-style shirt in white, red or black. The colors were chosen by the student council, and the student body competed to design the shirt?s panther logo.
Some students said they were upset they would not be able to wear whatever they want to school anymore, but most were excited about the new shirts. Platt parents said the money they will save on clothing for their children is a big plus.
Platt Tech received the state Department of Education's Vanguard Award this year, and LaPorta feels the uniforms will help the school continue to soar. ?I am really pleased with the things this school has been able to do. I still believe the sky is the limit,? he said.
