Some Milford residents say they?re waiting for their streets to be cleaned up after this weekend?s mess of snow, but Milford Public Works is urging people to be patient and says all of the streets are passable despite appearances.
Birch Avenue is covered by a combination of packed snow and ice. Neighbors say it?s treacherous to walk on and tricky to drive on.
The public works department says the city's trucks have been plowing, sanding and salting since Friday, but with temperatures in the mid-20s Monday, they say salt isn?t really effective. Moreover, the department says it typically takes about 24 hours after a storm ends to get everything cleaned up.
Public Works Director Bruce Kolwicz says crews spent much of Monday cleaning up smaller streets, but that it will take some time to get them all cleared.
