Officials say that a Monroe volunteer firefighter was injured while fighting a fire.
Fire officials say Stevenson, Monroe and Stepney volunteer fire departments responded to a house fire Saturday on Old Zoar Road. They say the injured firefighter was on the roof when he fell and landed on the deck of the home.
"He was not alert or conscious initially but did come to once they got him to the hospital," says Kevin Catalano, deputy fire chief of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. "Fortunately, he just has fractures at this point."
The fire department is not releasing the firefighter's name, but News 12 is told that he is 20 years old, has been a volunteer for three years and is also a volunteer EMT in Monroe and Easton.
The firefighter is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.
Catalano says he is in good spirits and is a really tough guy.
Fire officials say they believe an electrical problem inside the home started the fire.
