A mother who lost her son to a drunk driver nearly two years ago is helping Gov. Ned Lamont promote National Work Zone Awareness Week.
Shari DiDomenico's son, Andrew, was a highway worker. An intoxicated driver killed Andrew on June 28, 2024, as he was cleaning the side of I-91 in Wallingford.

Shari DiDomenico is now urging drivers to slow down in Connecticut's work zones.
"Andrew was only 26 years old and he should be here today. He should have a future full of milestones, laughter and ordinary moments that we often take for granted," said Shari DiDomenico.
Just in the last few weeks, drivers have struck several DOT work trucks.
