Members of the National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut got the word out Sunday about an upcoming event for people who are blind or suffer from vision loss.

Organizer Jim Cronin, of Wilton, says the first Blind Expo will take place in Stamford this coming Saturday.

He says the event will help people succeed in life despite having a disability.

"Blindness and low vision and vision loss are not a prison sentence. It's a gift and it's all in your attitude. And when you come to a group or chapter like ours in Stamford, you find out there are blind people like yourself that are living successfully in life that are happy, joyous and free," Cronin said.

He says the expo will help connect people with a wide array of services.

The one-day event will kick off at noon on Saturday, May 3 on the fourth floor of the Stamford Government Center at 888 Washington Blvd.
