Councilman Andy King hosted a rally in the Bronx Thursday to honor National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and kick off the entire month to spreading the word.
People who attended the event dressed for the occasion during the Wear Orange campaign.
The movement was inspired by a Chicago teen who lost her life to gun violence. Since 2013, the campaign has recognized all of the lives that have been cut short because of guns.
Anyone can participate in the Wear Orange campaign. People just need to dress in orange, take a picture of themselves and post it to social media using the hashtag #wearorange.
