It's National Pizza Day - did you know that Americans eat about 23 pounds of pizza per person each year?

The first pizzeria opened in New York City in 1895, but today some 17 percent of all restaurants in the United States are pizzerias. 

Another fun fact about one of our favorite foods is that pepperoni is the most popular.
