Air Quality Alert from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Thursday
It feels like full-on summer out there, and that vibe is sticking around for the rest of the week! Today is shaping up to be the hottest day, with temps away from the shoreline pushing close to 90°.
If you’re inland, it’s going to feel toasty. The humidity is also hanging around, making it feel even warmer.
Bridgeport’s record high for today is 86°, set back in 2021—and there’s a decent shot we could tie or even break that if the wind shifts just a bit more from the southwest. Heads-up on-air quality, it’s not great and could get worse. Another Air Quality Alert is likely, especially for sensitive groups like kids, seniors, and anyone with respiratory issues. If that’s you, it’s a good idea to limit time outside.
You might’ve noticed the sky looking a little hazy—that’s smoke from wildfires in western Canada. It’s high up in the atmosphere, so it’s not directly affecting air quality at ground level, but the heat and humidity are helping to cook up some ground-level ozone, which is a concern.
As for rain, there’s a chance of showers or a thunderstorm tonight with a cold front nearby, but it doesn’t look like much will make it through.
There’s a better shot at some rain Friday evening and again on Saturday. The good news? That’ll help break the heat. We’re looking at more seasonable temps returning over the weekend and into early next week.
