Neighbors and people from the community have been dropping off sentiments like balloons, stuffed animals and candles to honor the children killed in an apparent triple murder-suicide in Danbury.
Neighbors say 36-year-old mother Sonia Loja, was running a day care inside the home.
News 12 confirmed with the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood they visited the home on Whaley Street four times from May to June because she was illegally operating child care.
The agency confirmed their last visit to the home was on June 30, where Loja stopped providing illegal child care.
It is unclear if there's a connection to her apparent actions Wednesday evening and the incident with the state, but neighbors say they're trying to do their part to honor the three young children who died.
The children have been identified as Junior Panjon, 12, Joselyn Panjon, 10, and Jonael Panjon, 5.
“Her kids were the ones that passed by every day, very polite and very friendly,” said Sandra, a neighbor.
A youth soccer team, who plays at a nearby park, walked up the street and did a prayer circle on the front lawn.
A classmate called Joselyn "quiet" and "very smart."
"She knew every question, like every question my teacher asked," said the classmate.
Many of the people News 12 spoke with say they didn't know this family, but they're just heartbroken and want to pay their respects.
Danbury Public Schools say they'll be offering counseling on Monday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
