The new interim superintendent for the Bridgeport School District says he's ready for a challenge as he prepares to take the reins of a financially troubled, under-performing school district.
"I'm used to coming into crisis situations and I prefer to work in districts that have great needs," says Paul Vallas.
Bridgeport schools face a $10 million budget deficit and have the worst graduation rate in the state.
Vallas, who officially becomes the superintendent on Jan. 2, says he has developed a five-year plan to improve finances and academics in the district.
