Students at New Canaan High School had the day off Tuesday so that workers could test the building?s air quality.
According to the district Superintendent Dr. David Abbey, there was an elevated reading in one of the air samplers.
The school has been the site of an expensive asbestos removal project in the past. That project led to a lawsuit when the town alleged that the environmental consultant they hired underestimated the amount of asbestos that needed to be removed.
The school will be open for classes on Wednesday.
