A talk held Thursday in New Canaan tackled the topic of safety at religious centers.
Doron Horowitz, a senior security adviser at Secure Community Network, a nonprofit group that advises Jewish institutions, gave the talk at the New Canaan Library.
He points out that over the past year, there have been 150 threats in 40 states, including at the JCC of Greater New Haven in Woodbridge.
Horowitz says his core message is resiliency and understanding the threats.
"We also don't live in fear but just have the means to manage that fear," he adds.
Lauren Steinberg is the director of the Jewish Community Relations Council that serves greater Stamford. She says Horowitz's words could prevent a tragedy.
For more than a decade, Horowitz says his group has been able to help thousands of people live safer lives.
