With COVID-19 cases climbing, the new Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport offered incentives to get vaccinated at its clinic on Monday.
The event hosted by Hartford HealthCare Saint Vincent's Medical Center was titled "A Shot to Win."
Those who were vaccinated at the amphitheater were offered donuts from Donut Crazy and we entered in a drawing for a chance to win tickets to the OTF Fest on Aug. 7. The event will feature artists Lil Durk and Coi LeRay.
People like 18-year-old Jack Wojnarowski of Milford have been hesitant to get a coronavirus vaccine, but opted to get vaccinated today.
"It's good, just get it. It helps you,” says Wojnarowski. “You don't have to worry about going somewhere and not having the vaccine."  Bridgeport’s Lonnie Spaulding was also nervous about getting vaccinated but decided to do so as a gift to his wife for her birthday.
News 12’s Brittany Miller spoke with the last recipient to receive a shot who says it was “very quick and efficient.”
Alphonso Harrington says he came out because he realizes the importance of saving his life and others around him.
“You might be nervous about it, but it’s better to come out and get it. You’ll be better off in the long run,” he said.
Joyce Jackson and Harrington were selected as winners in the contest.
“Wow, that’s a miracle,” Harrington said. “I guess good things do happen.”
