New Haven man arraigned in deadly stabbings of toddler son, 19-year-old girlfriend

Emotions ran high at Milford Superior Court as a New Haven man was arraigned for the violent deaths of his girlfriend and his young son.
Tissues were passed around to the victims’ family members who dabbed their eyes.
One woman clutched a Tigger stuffed animal and ran out of the courtroom sobbing before the hearing even began.
She was back by the time 26-year-old Jevon Fletcher appeared before the judge via video.
Fletcher is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of murder with special circumstances and one count of risk of injury to a minor. Judge Auden Grogins called the allegations, “as serious as you can get.”

They found 19-year-old Hailey Miller and a toddler stabbed to death. Police identified Miller as Fletcher's girlfriend and the boy as Fletcher's 2 1/2-year-old son.
Miller had a young son of her own, who wasn't there that night. Family started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the toddler's future, as well as Miller's funeral. They described her as “a hard-working mother, always looking to further her education/career. She was dedicated to giving her son the best life possible, a life filled with love and care. Hailey's bright spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her child touched everyone who knew her,” they wrote.
The details of what led to her death aren’t known. The judge agreed to a request from the prosecution to seal all police reports in the case until Fletcher’s next hearing.
Grogins also ordered Fletcher to have no contact with any member of the victims’ families or any potential witness.
In court, the bail commissioner said Fletcher has a conviction from February 2024 for breach of peace in a domestic violence incident involving a different victim. He received a six-month suspended sentence.
Grogins kept Fletcher’s bond at $3 million.
The woman in the gallery with the stuffed animal walked out of the proceeding just before it ended and yelled, “Kill him.”
Most family members had no comment as they left the courthouse after the arraignment. A cousin of Miller’s said she just wanted people to know, “how sweet Hailey was.”
Fletcher returns to court March 13.
