Loved ones said goodbye today to a New Jersey native who tragically lost his life in a terror attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day.

A funeral service was held at St. Catharine's Church in Holmdel for William "Billy" DiMaio. Demaio was being laid to rest at St. Gabriel's Cemetery in Marlboro.

A visitation was held on Wednesday at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home in Middletown.

Gov. Phil Murphy has ordered flags to be lowered on Friday, Jan. 10 in honor of DiMaio, which coincides with Louisiana's Day of Remembrance.
