New Lebanon School in Greenwich opens after 8-year push
New Lebanon School, one of five inter-district magnet schools in Greenwich, held its opening day celebration Wednesday.
The town broke ground on the new building just over one year ago. The old building, which is on the same property, will likely be torn down over the break in April.
Principal Barbara Riccio says the push for a bigger building went on for eight years.
"We really…had to fight for the funding, had to fight for the need in this in the community," she told News 12.
After a dance party for the excited students, it was back to the books at New Lebanon.
Officials say two playgrounds and a baseball field will be completed by the start of next school year.
