The mayor of New Milford is urging caution after a suspicious person has been showing up at homes in the Candlewood Lake Road area and claiming to be returning residents' IDs. Mayor Pete Bass said in a statement that residents should call police immediately to report any suspicious activity. He advised residents to always ask for identification and check for a badge, uniform, or marked vehicle with a company logo before opening their door.
