After 10 years of planning, the new Stamford hospital is officially open.
Over the weekend the first patients were moved from the old building to the new 13-story, 650,000-square foot facility.

Hospital officials say at the top of the building they'll have a helipad to fly in trauma cases.
And unlike the old hospital, the new one has trauma rooms that convert into operating rooms on the spot.
Hospital administrators say the new facility has been 15 years in the making.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at noon today.
