There is a new member of the General Assembly today.
Newly elected Democrat Joe Gresko was sworn in this morning to fill the seat of the late State Rep. Terry Backer.
Gresko beat Republican Susan Barksdale by a few hundred votes in a special election Tuesday.
Backer died in December after a five-year battle with brain cancer.
Gresko was Backer's longtime friend and legislative aide.
