News 12 Connecticut got an inside look at the new Stamford Hospital.
The head of the hospital's emergency department says the new building is equipped with the latest technology available.
Chairman Dr. Arun Nandi showed off the bank of monitors that will be used to track the vital signs and other information of every patient.
The hospital will be put to the test in two weeks. First, patients who are not critically ill will be moved over, with more patients being transferred in order of the severity of their ailments.
The old hospital emergency room will remain up and running when the new one goes online. Unlike the old hospital, the new one has trauma rooms that convert into operating rooms on the spot.
The new emergency department will be more than double the footprint of the last.
