(05/15/06) STAMFORD ? Students at West Hill High School in Stamford were stunned to learn Monday of a teacher?s murder.
Spanish teacher Patricia Mery, 59, was discovered inside her Ossining, NY home Sunday. Police have not disclosed the cause of death pending an autopsy by the Westchester County Medical Examiner?s Office. Stamford school officials say Mery was an extremely dedicated teacher. When she didn?t show up for work on Friday, educators at her school say they knew something was wrong.
Students remember Mery as a nice woman who went the extra mile for her students. Grief councilors were on hand Monday to help students cope with the loss. The school also sent out letters to inform parents of the tragedy.
