Nationwide protests against President Donald Trump are happening across the country on Saturday – with more than a dozen across the Garden State.

Protesters gathered at Brookdale Park on the border of Bloomfield and Montclair as part of a coordinated National Day of Action dubbed “No Kings.”

Opponents of President Trump’s administration are set to rally in hundreds of cities today during the military parade in Washington to mark the Army’s 250th anniversary, which coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday.

More than a dozen Montclair-area grassroots organizations, including Montclair's Democrats and BlueWaveNJ, helped organize the demonstration.

In April, more than 8,000 people attended the “Hands Off” rally in Brookdale Park, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Mike Sherrill and Rep. LaMonica Mclver.

Demonstrators told News 12 that they are peacefully protesting to support free speech, stop the detainment of people for their political views and support those who fear being deported.
