A Milford photographer has found a way to use "No Shave November" to raise money for local charities.
Steven Cooper, of Milford, says he's creating art out of the latest men's fashion trends.
Stevens Ford in Milford is serving as an art gallery for Cooper's exhibit. Cooper says he has been using the sleek, clean space as his gallery for several years, and his latest exhibit has a decidedly gritty, retro theme.
Rick George, known by many around Milford as "Santa Rick," says that he didn't think twice when Cooper asked him to be one of the dozens photographed to raise money for local homeless shelters.
"For most of my adult life I've worked for one nonprofit or another and helped out, so anything for the homeless or especially children, I'm all for," George says.
The subjects of Cooper's photos range from 20-something hipsters to finance executives.
He says that he believes beards have become culturally iconic.
"We've got baseball, football, basketball - very distinctive, cool beards," he says. "It's not that they just have them, but even the sportscasters mention it and there are different fundraisers around the beard."
Money raised from the event will go toward homeless shelters.
