A student volunteer organization is making it easier for high school students to give back to their communities.
A nonprofit fair was held Friday at St. Luke's School in New Canaan and organized by CARE.
CARE, which stands for community aid for resources and education, connects students to nonprofits, causes and volunteer opportunities.
It was started five years by Jared Gordon, who is currently a senior at St. Luke's, to bring students and nonprofits together. It has since expanded with a website where nonprofits can post resources and ways to volunteer. Any student can visit the site and look for requests.
Over 300 students attended Friday's fair and had the chance to hear directly from representatives from 20 nonprofits.
"We just hope bringing all organizations from all over Fairfield County and beyond to our school...we really hope students can foster meaningful connections," says Gordon.
School officials say students must complete a minimum of 20 services hours each year in order to graduate.
CARE says they have coordinated thousands of services hours for hundreds of students throughout Fairfield County and beyond.
