A child in Bridgeport with special needs got the surprise of a lifetime Saturday when a local nonprofit group granted her wish.
The family of 5-year-old Eva Grace Kelly says nonprofit The Needs Clearinghouse presented them with a $7,000 check to take her on a Disney World vacation in Orlando.
Kelly has a rare neurological condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is often fatal by the age of 2.
Eva's family says that they reached out to a number of organizations, praying that she could have her dream, and says The Needs Clearinghouse was the only one that took action.
"It makes me feel absolutely wonderful that we're able to help this little girl realize her dream," says Joe Kaliko, the organization's founder.
Kelly's mother says her family will travel to Disney World at the end of September.
