Cartbridge Road Bridge has been shut down due to recent flooding of the Saugatuck River. The bridge, which connects the east and west sides of Weston, does not sit very high above the water. Rising tides hit it hard during this weekend?s nor?easter. Emergency officials say they need to figure out whether the bridge has structural damage. In order to inspect the damage, a diver must be sent down to inspect the pilings. Officials say a diver won?t be able to inspect the bridge until the water recedes. If the bridge has suffered structural damage, town officials need to gauge the severity. Depending on the extent of the damage, the bridge will either have to be closed during repairs or could possibly be reopened with a weight limit. Traffic has been re-routed in the meantime.
