Residents at a Norwalk apartment building say their elevator has been out of order for weeks and it's causing problems for residents with disabilities who live on the upper floors.
Residents who live at 93 Richards Avenue say the elevator hasn’t worked for almost a month and is now a safety issue.
"It is a safety problem for me and a safety problem for other tenants in the building also," says Allison Mikel, who is legally blind and lives on the fourth floor at 93 Richards.
She says the elevator in her building worked sporadically since she moved in a few months ago, until July, when an "Out of Order" sign went up and hasn't come down since.
Vicki Mikel, Allison's sister and caretaker, says both women have been staying at hotels and friends' houses since Allison took a spill on the stairs a few weeks ago.
The property is managed by 93 Richards Apartments. News 12 Connecticut reached out to them for comment but has not heard back yet.
