Many communities in southwestern Connecticut are honoring the lives lost in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A flag was flying at half-mast as residents of Norwalk were joined by Mayor Harry Rilling on the front steps of City Hall to take a moment of silence.
Residents of Darien also gathered to remember the tragedy at the town's 9/11 Memorial at Middlesex Middle School.
Darien High School students from the Navy Sea Cadets were in full uniform to raise the school flag for the ceremony.
A wreath and red roses were placed at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the tower on Sept. 11, 2001.
