As a Norwalk family mourns the loss of their son, they credit the U.S. Army for making him both a soldier and a better man.Sgt. Jonathan Lootens? family was notified of his death early Monday morning. His family says they want to share his story because of the impact the Army had on their son. Lootens was heading down the wrong road before finding the military as an outlet. Now, as they mourn their loss, they find solace in knowing their son died the man they always knew he could be.Lootens joined the Army shortly after September 11th, 2001. He served one tour of duty in Afghanistan and was deployed to Iraq in August after re-enlisting. Looten was in a lead humvee when it was struck by a roadside bomb in the city of Kirkuk.
