The Norwalk Fire Department honored firefighters and a civilian for their heroic efforts at a fatal accident at Veterans Park.
Twelve days ago, a Stamford woman drowned and her husband was hospitalized after their car plunged into the harbor.
Twenty-two firefighters who responded to the incident received citations today for their bravery. An off-duty Stamford firefighter, and a civilian who reached the submerged car before Norwalk firefighters arrived, also received citations from the fire department.
Norwalk officials called the 24 people who tried to save the couple heroes, but firefighters say they were just doing what they have been trained to do.
